Get Organized And… Cross It Off Your List!!!

By Kelly Krieger Organization is the key to success. When our lives are cluttered and unorganized we tend to lose sleep and create unnecessary stress. A list a mile long can linger for weeks, days and sometimes even months. When is it time to make a change?

Cross It Off Your List is a New York based organization company that can assist you in your home, office, or re-location. They will provide and teach you how to organize and manage your life better. Whether your closets need to shed a few pounds or your file cabinets at the office need to be re-organized, Cross It Off Your List is at your service.

They believe that “Whatever you don’t have time to do, you can add to their list.” The company has been successful since 1990 with a main office in New York City and a new office in the Hamptons. Founder, Linda Rothschild, and her team of professionals have helped make life more manageable for thousands of satisfied clients over the years.

Why is it so difficult to maintain an organized life? I have a four letter word that comes to mind – WORK! For many professionals who work full-time, it seems like the last thing they want to do at the end of the day is work at home. We all have different needs and have experienced periods of time when our life appears to be out-of-control. The solution is simple, but our time and energy levels are limited. I can recall living in my “studio” apartment in the East Village for nearly five years (three of which my then boyfriend lived with me). Talk about needing more space or living too close for comfort. It was the most annoying living situation imaginable. Everything needed to have its place and there were not enough “places” to store things. At times I wanted to sleep on the fire escape to take a break from the overstuffed box we lived in.

Our entire circle of friends would all say the same thing – “If you can survive living together in this apartment, you can live together anywhere.” Well, let’s fast forward to the wedding, a new “Bigger” apartment, and finally the even “Bigger” 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 3 car garage, full finished basement house! The more space you have, the more things you collect.

Unfortunately the marriage ended and I found myself starting over once again in a small space. This time the boyfriend was replaced by a beta fish named Harvey. Not bad, he takes up little space, doesn’t argue, and let’s me have the remote at all times. What more could a girl ask for?

Let’s see … hmmm … more closet space for my growing shoe collection. After all, who needs a boyfriend? That is unless he goes by the name Prada, Dior, or Chanel. I will always have room in my life for shoes, shoes and more shoes! And, Cross It Off Your List can help you put your best shoe forward. The feeling of being organized is like a new beginning. The air seems lighter and fresher and I definitely gain more focus to accomplish the things I usually procrastinate about. Here are a few tips that will help you put the focus back in your life:

  1. Be creative with your organization – use baskets, trunks, and beds with built-in drawers for extra storage.
  2. Take an inventory of your wardrobe collection and get rid of anything you haven’t worn in the past year.
  3. Limit duplicate items (except for shoes, of course).
  4. Keep track of cleaning products, food items, and health and beauty products before you purchase more. This will save time and money. There should be one place in your home to store all of these items.
  5. Use storage bins, space hangers, and shoe racks.
  6. Make sure everything has its place.
  7. Call Cross It Off Your List for assistance!
